A BID to transform an area of Fairfield was unveiled to the public.
The plans will see the demolition of houses in Robson Street and the building of 40 new homes in their place.
Representatives from Warrington Housing Association (WHA) were on hand to talk residents through the proposals at the consultation event, which took place at the Community House on Robson Street.
The majority of the houses would be available to rent and a further eight properties would be sold under the Homebuy initiative.
The scheme gives those wanting to get on the property market the chance to do so by part renting and part buying their home.
Councillor Yvonne Fovargue said: "This development is welcomed as it will provide social housing for rent as well as affordable homes for purchase at a time when many people simply cannot afford to get on to the housing ladder.
"I am pleased that, under the proposals, the play area currently located on Robson Street will be retained and improved.
"But I will be working hard to ensure that the loss of the community house on Robson Street will not mean the end to community activities in the area and alternative provision can be arranged nearby."
Current residents will be offered new accommodation, which, at the moment, rented out by WHA after the houses were bought under a compulsory purchase order 10 years ago.
