ELDERLY and disabled residents in Avery Close and Orange Grove in Padgate got a delay put on the introduction of communal bins for their homes after arranging a meeting with council officers.
"People were distraught at the prospect," said resident Doreen Sefton, aged 77. "Most of us are disabled, we are on sticks, in wheelchairs - ancient!
"We would not be able to lift the lids or hoist the rubbish in."
Council officers are set to meet residents again.
