A GROUP of senior citizens is calling on the borough council to bring the Parr Hall theatre facilities up to scratch.
The Older People's Forum says the historic building could provide a base for community groups as well as putting on performances.
Spokesman Alfred Clemo said: "Fancy the Parr Hall being subsidised to the tune of £600,000 last year by our council.
"I cannot say I am surprised, it's not only your heart that aches after sitting on the seats for an hour.
"The price of a cup of tea etc. is enough to send people packing.
"With an army of volunteers and many groups looking for a base, the Parr Hall could be changed into a good theatre venue and a very good base for the many groups I have seen in many other towns across the UK."
His comments come after the Warrington Guardian revealed last month that Warrington Borough Council accounts show the venue was £589,000 in the red last year.
