Rugby league’s most creative half back for 14 seasons was at his inspirational best in guiding Warrington Wolves to their historic Challenge Cup triumph this year.
Pinpoint accuracy earned him the Lance Todd Trophy as the man of the match. His steering of his team around the field of play helped Warrington to their finest ever season in Super League.
It was a milestone season for him too. The first conversion he kicked in the win at Crusaders in July confirmed Lee as the club’s second highest points scorer of all time, overtaking Brian Bevan and ending the season with a Wolves career total only 108 points short of frontrunner Steve Hesford.
Adrian is captain of the first Warrington Wolves team to win the Challenge Cup in successive seasons. He led by example with pride, passion and channelled aggression as Wolves enjoyed their most consistent season yet in Super League.
He ended the season in the Super League Dream Team as one of the two top props in the British game this year and was shortlisted for the Man of Steel Award. His year was capped off with the ultimate honour being named as England’s tour captain for the Four Nations tournament currently ongoing in Australia and New Zealand.
Ben is perhaps Warrington Wolves’ most consistent performer in the club’s finest season of the 21st century. He swept the board at the club’s end of season honours, winning player of they year awards from his team-mates, coach and supporters’ club members.
His 2010 performances were rewarded with a first appearance in the Super League Dream Team as one of the game’s top 13 players in this country this year. He is currently on tour with England battling for Four Nations success in New Zealand and Australia.
He loves the physical stuff. When the going gets tough, Ben gets going – mounting up the workrate in the tackling and ball-carrying departments with devastating effect.
His try-scoring performance in the win of eventual champions Wigan in July will live long in the memory.
