Phil Eastham
The hard work of Phil Eastham (pictured left) has made a big difference to young people’s lives both in Warrington and Tanzania.
The 42-year-old, from Great Sankey, has gone back to Tanzania to build a primary school there for the second time and to set up a football academy.
He has collected and sent a lot of clothing, football and school equipment and medical supplies to Tanzania to help the people living there.
And Phil has also raised thousands of pounds for various charities in and around Warrington.
He manages two local teams – Matthiola under 13s and Crosfields under-eights girls’ side – and he coaches football at schools.
Sue Barlow
Sue replicated Jose Mourinho by winning a trio of trophies as a manager last season – steering Appleton Cricket Club women’s team to Cheshire league title glory and two cup triumphs.
She also manages the under-11s, under-13s and under-15s girls’ teams and does a sterling job in taking care of all of the club’s admin and background tasks. Sue is a fantastic organiser and, in her role as junior co-ordinator for Appleton, she is delighted that 15 new girls/women have joined the club this year.
She is also a child welfare officer at Appleton and was the driving force behind the formation of a Cheshire under 13s girls’ league. Sue also organised a girls’ festival of cricket this year, securing sponsorship from several local businesses.
