DETECTIVES believe the attacker who left a man fighting for his life is likely to be a Featherstone fan.
The 32-year-old Halifax fan was seriously assaulted after the clash at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Sunday at 8.15pm.
He received emergency treatment at Walton Hospital for a serious head injury and is in a critical condition.
The victim was returning to where his coach was parked in the match car park on Dallam Lane.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: "Indications suggest that the offender may be a Featherstone Rovers supporter and may have got onto a coach for supporters returning home."
Any witnesses should call the police on 0845 458 0000 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
