THE wife of Paul Cullen, Christine, has died following a long battle with cancer.

Christine, aged 48, died peacefully at home with her family at 6.30pm on Tuesday.

Paul, the current Widnes Vikings coach, has been given compassionate leave for the rest of the season by the Stobart Stadium club.

A former coach of Warrington Wolves, he was a Wire legend during his playing days.

A statement from the Vikings said: “The club sends its prayers and heart felt condolences to Paul, their sons Josh and Scott and family and friends.

“A one minute silence will be observed at the game against Sheffield at home on Thursday evening.”
