IT was Catalonian celebration time in Perpignan.
And Catalan Dragons chiefs were delighted that Warrington Wolves’ barmy army would be in town to join the 2008 party.
General manager Christophe Levy believed the travelling fans would enjoy that particular Perpignan trip more than previous ones.
"As every season, we are all very exited by the arrival of the Warrington Wolves fans," said Levy.
"It has been the best away support we have had since 2006 and it should be the same this year.
"All Wolves fans are very friendly to our supporters and I just hope their behaviour won't change.
"This year is a bit special as we play on the Catalan day, June 21, which is a major event in Perpignan. There will be a huge music festival with many bands in Perpignan city centre.
"I am certain the fans won't regret their visit to Perpignan as they will have a fantastic memory from this trip.
"Our game should be another sell-out and the atmosphere should be electric."
Levy was spot on with his predictions.
During the day, the streets dressed in gold and red were alive with ceremonial dancing and a carnival parade.
At night, thousands and thousands thronged the streets of Perpignan for a spectacular music festival.
Wolves fans soaked up the atmosphere and, of course, added some vibrancy of their own.
