THE search is on for a new boss at Warrington Town Hall.

Councillors face a crucial decision in the coming months before they decide on who will be the new chief executive.

At any organisation a change in the boss means speculation, anxiety and worry for staff.

And for 8,000 council workers therefore, it is doubly important that the right man or woman is appointed.

David Whitehead has been a steadying influence at the Town Hall for two years now and his will be a tough act to follow.

The new boss will not find it easy - we all know and appreciate the budget problems in the borough which makes Warrington among the lowest funded local authorities in the country.

And the complaints about traffic and the state of the roads continue.

However, the job is also one that should attract candidates of the highest calibre.

Because our town remains one of the best in the country. Investment from business is second to none, the school system is rated the best in the region and developments such as Omega offer amazing chances for the future.
