SUMMER may never be the same again for some communities in Warrington.
Because this week's revelations that two historic events with 150 years' history between them will never be the same again.
Council and police bosses have, in effect, pulled the plug on two events and more have only been saved by extra funds being supplied this year.
These kinds of events, from may queens to galas and rose queens to walking days, may be dying out, but they are the lifeblood of a community.
And as long as people want them to continue, they should be supported.
One flick through the pages of this week's Warrington Guardian shows hundreds of people supporting and enjoying events in Lymm, Birchwood, Whitley and the town centre.
It's doubtful if they will still be enjoying them in 50 years' time
