A serious injury sustained just week before the start of the 2005 season wrecked Grix's first year at the club, after signing from hometown club Halifax. He had been on the verge of first-team selection after impressing in pre-season, and he is eager to make up for lost time in 2006. A versatile ball player who has featured in the three-quarters and at stand off for Halifax, Grix has the traits of a natural loose forward. Was part of the victorious England Academy tour of Australia and New Zealand, he had a distinguished junior career, representing England Schools from U15 upwards and the full England Academy side at U17 and U18. He turned professional from King Cross ARLFC, Halifax, making six Super League appearances for 'Fax during their relegation season of 2003, and scoring six tries in 13 National League One games in 2004. Attracted interest in Australia before sealing his future with the Wolves, Grix's final appearance for Halifax was at stand off in their dramatic NL1 Qualifying Series Final comeback against York which preserved their NL1 status.
