Converted from three-quarter line to the pack in 2005 with immense success, bagging the highest try count of his career and finishing the year as Warrington's top tackler from marker. Held his ground at prop early in the season before settling into the back row, Westwood is a very aggressive and direct runner who is difficult to bring down on the charge. Has been a centre throughout his professional career, graduating through Wakefield Trinity Academy to make his Super League debut with the Wildcats in 1999. Toured South Africa with England U21s in 2001, and signed for the Wolves in a £60,000 deal midway through the 2002 season, immediately earning a call up to the Yorkshire Origin side. Suffered a broken leg early in 2003 but recovered to finish the season strongly on the wing with six tries in the last seven games to help Wolves reach the play-offs. Made his full England debut in 2004, and was named player of the tournament in the 2004 European Nations Cup. He represented England again in 2005, having come close to the full Great Britain squad. Signed an extension to his deal, which will keep him at the club until 2009.
