POLICE hailed Creamfields a success - but a spree of violence paints a different picture.
Last week, Chief Superintendent Nick Ingram said: "It achieved what we set out to do. To ensure that visitors enjoyed the festival in safety."
Initially, World reported officers had arrested 18 revellers for several crimes: possession with intent to supply drugs, an assault and five men on suspicion of stealing a car.
But new information shows the real extent, including five vicious assaults that have left two victims scarred for life.
l At 10.30pm a 24-year-old man, from Warrington, was stabbed in the stomach with an unknown weapon and suffered a punched lung during an assault. It happened when a melee between 30 revellers had broken out in the Subliminal tent.
l Around midnight a 19-year-old man, from Liverpool, was leaving the Aftershock tent when a stranger slashed him across the face with a blade. The victim needed 29 stitches to his cheek and eight stitches to his ear. The attacker is described as a white man, around 20 years old and 6ft tall. He was of slim build with short brown hair and sunken cheeks and spoke with strong Liverpool accent.
l Around 2am a 23-year-old man, from Liverpool, was slashed across the face with a blade. He needed 30 stitches from a plastic surgeon and has been scarred for life. The incident happened near the bungee jump. The offender was 18-25 years old and 6ft tall. He wore dark clothing at the time of the attack.
l At 2am a 22-year-old Telford man was attacked by a couple with a glass bottle. The victim had been wearing a pink cowboy hat, which was snatched from his head. As he tried to retrieve it, the woman smashed him in the face with the bottle. A man then punched him in the face. He suffered bruising and swelling around the eyes and nose and needed stitches under his left eye. The attackers are described as white, 20 years old, approximately 5ft 6ins tall and had Liverpool accents.
l At 2.30am a 25-year-old Oldham man was bitten on the ear, severing part of it. The victim had been at the bar area close to the main stage when two men approached One put his arm around the victim before biting his right ear. The attacker is believed to be in his mid 20s and 5ft 10ins. He had dark hair in a short, back and sides style. He was wearing a black T-shirt and black jeans. His companion was smaller than the offender in both size and build and was in his early 20s.
