CREWE FC climbed to second spot in MCL Division One with a 4-0 victory over Maine Road Reserves.

Dave Hanson, Joey Alcott, Alan Brown and an own goal made sure Ian O'Reilly's side keep their 100% record at the Cumberland Stadium.

The hosts got off to a flier when Danny Massey's corner was bundled into the net on seven minute with Hanson soon doubling the advantage through a neat solo effort.

Maine Road had a lot of the ball without doing anything with it as Crewe's defence remained on top going into the break.

Alcott chipped the keeper on the hour to all but seal the points while Alan Brown netted a spectacular 25-yard free-kick to wrap things up.

Despite two successive victories, the boss wants more from his players.

"I thought the scoreline flattered us a bit," admitted O'Reilly.

"If there was any football, they played it although we took our goals well.

"Although 3-0 and 4-0 sound convincing, I we know we can do better.

"I still want more from the players.

"We're not looking at league tables yet and perhaps we're not playing well but we're getting results.

"Maybe it's because we haven't had a settled side yet.

"We had four or five out last Saturday but we coped well.

"We've had to chop and change but suspensions are nearly over and we should have everybody back."

Crewe will look to make it a home hat-trick with Broadheath Central in town on Saturday, KO 3pm.

"We've got them in the cup so we could play them in quick succession," continued O'Reilly.

"Last season I thought they were half a decent side so it should be interesting."

Hanson will miss action at the Cumberland Stadium with Mark Blackburn also a doubt through injury.

John Scarlett and Paul John Hudson should be back in contention.
