CREWE FC boss Ian O'Reilly believes his side must improve their finishing despite capping their homecoming with a 3-0 victory over Fearnhead.
Dave Hanson, Paul Brown and an own-goal made sure of a successful return to the Cumberland Stadium after over a year away.
However O'Reilly feels too many chances are going begging and that has to change if they want to challenge for promotion in MCL Division Two.
Five games in and Crewe FC are seventh, already eight points behind runaway leaders Monk FC.
"I think Fearnhead will struggle and we made hard work of it," he said.
"We made enough chances to win two games well, it should have been 11-0.
"It was the same at Tarporley (1-1) in the week and if we want to do well, we've got to start putting them away."
Centre-half Nick Butterworth was top man on the day.
"He was the one that stood out for me," continued O'Reilly.
"I slated him before the game and in the end I had to apologise and tell him that he was the best player on the pitch.
"We're down on numbers at the back and if he can carry on like that, it will be a bonus."
While the majority of the division are in Division Two Challenge Cup action, Crewe have a bye.
Potentially, they can go second with a big victory over Maine Road Reserves at the Cumberland, this Saturday (KO 3pm).
"They've struggled a bit so far but we thought that last season and they turned us over," added O'Reilly.
"So we'll need to be on it.
"John Scarlett's away and Alan Brown could be out injured but we should have Lee Westwood and PJ back.
"We want to keep our home form going and if we want to have a good season, we need to turn it into a fortress.
"A few of the lads thought pitches might have cost us promotion last season.
"This new one is beautiful so everything is right for us and we've got no excuses."
