NANTWICH Town player coach Steve Davis wants his lads to turn up the heat on league leaders FC United.
The rogue Red Devils have made the kind of start most people were predicting, sitting top of NWC Division One with five wins out of five, 21 goals to the good and only one conceded.
Already a casualty in those stats, Davis says Nantwich must keep pace with them to have a stab at promotion.
And he's still not convinced it's going to be the predicted cakewalk.
"We just need to keep on winning and keep in touch," he said.
"If it is going to be FC United, we need to try and keep within the three points that we've lost to them.
"I'm still not sure they're going to win every match, that would be some achievement.
"It could be up to us to stop them, that's why we must stay with them.
"Maine Road have had a good start and so have Curzon but when everyone is fit and we reach the kind of performance levels I think we're capable of, I know we can do it."
Andy Kinsey starred for Nantwich with two goals to set up a 3-1 victory over Ramsbottom, last Saturday.
The visitors almost made a dream start at Jackson Avenue when Lee Cryer's early cross-cum-shot rattled the bar.
However two minutes later, Kinsey was in the right place to head home a deflected cross from Andy Bott.
Nantwich were in the driving seat when Danny Griggs sparked a fine move down the left, eventually laying the ball off to Kinsey who held off a couple of chances before bagging his second from 15-yards.
Instead of folding, Ramsbottom gave themselves renewed hope just before the break when midfielder McDonald burst through from his own half and netted from distance.
After the break, the hosts upped the tempo to dominate with Griggs finishing good work from Adam Beasley to wrap up the points on 54 minutes.
"We were always in control, I'm disappointed we conceded though because we need clean sheets," added Davis.
"Goal difference could end up being very important in this division."
It's FA Cup action on Saturday as they entertain UCL Premier outfit Deeping Rangers.
l Danny Griggs claimed a hat-trick as the Dabbers beat Atherton LR 7-1 on Tuesday night.
It was goals galore at Jackson Avenue as Andy Kinsey grabbed a brace with Adam Soane and Andy Bott also getting in on the act.
The Dabbers totally dominated after Lancaster saw red on 10 minutes.
Another three points sees Nantwich stay fouth but they close the gap to three points.
