DELAMERE star Joey Reade has set up a dream clash with Darts king Phil 'The Power' Taylor.

Reade gets to share the ockey with the PDC World Champion after winning the Holsten Pils Knockout on a great night at the Crosville Club, last Sunday.

It'll be a match be never forgets at Knutton Ex-Servicemens Club, September 13.

The early rounds of the competition saw two family contests.

Firstly Dan Downey (LMR) easily disposed of his mother Jayne 3-1 and then Jason Grant (North Ward) showed no mercy to father Wilbert (Sugar) Grant beating him 3-0.

Neither could progress further as both lost 3-0 in the next round, Dan to John Cooper (Pioneers) and Jason to eventual winner Reade.

Top marksmen in the early rounds were Pete Boughey (Pioneers) hitting 16 and 17 dart legs including a 180, John Speed (Pioneers) 15, 18 darts, 124 finish and a 180 and Rob Arrowsmith (Delamere) 15, 18,and 19 darts.

In the quarter finals Chris Watwood (Crown) easily beat Tony Richardson (Pioneers) 3-0 and Pete Boughey (Pioneers) had a comfortable 3-1 victory over Clive Lucking( Grand Junction).

The other Pioneers men in the quarter-finals were not so lucky as Speed hit a 180 but still lost 3-0 to Reade who took the deciding third leg in 17 darts.

Cooper also lost 3-0 to Arrowsmith who also recorded a 180.

In the first semi-final between Watwood and Boughey , Chris took the first leg but Pete responded winning the second leg in 18 darts with a 100 finish and going on to take the next two in 25 and 21 darts for a 3-1 victory and a place in the final.

The other semi-final was a close affair as Arrowsmith won the first leg in 23 darts but Reade hit back winning the second and third legs in 19 darts for a 2-1 lead.

Arrowsmith levelled, hitting a 20 darter but in a tense final leg, Reade was the man in form winning the decider in 23 darts to reach the final.

In the final Reade got off to a flyer winning the first leg in 21 darts and hitting a 60 finish.

The second leg saw Boughey hit top form with a 17 darter, finishing with a two dart 59 but Reade went ahead again taking the third leg in 19 darts for a 2-1 lead.

Boughey repsonded again in the fourth leg as both players struggled for a double, Pete eventually winning the leg in 26 darts and leaving the final to be decided on the fifth and final leg.

Boughey missed his chance of a 65 finish, allowing Reade to win the leg with a 74 checkout in 21 darts.

He becomes the first winner of the Holsten Pils Cup and a cash prize of £25.

Runner-up Boughey received £15 and the two losing semi-finalists Watwood and Arrowsmith each received £8 while all four also took home cans of Holsten Pils.

In Premier Darts Vine A had a 6-2 win over Dishers South St thanks to John Hulse , Howard Bateman, and Tony Hanks hitting 19 darters, a 180 from Mick Hassall and a 171 by John Hulse.

Dishers also became the new Premier Dominoes champions with a 5-3 victory over Vine A, leaving Flying Lady A as runners-up three points adrift.

In Division Three Darts, King Arms B were held to a 4-4 draw by Last Orders but it was enough to clinch the title, finishing two points ahead of runners-up Sydney Arms B and leaving the Sydney A team in third spot a further two points adrift.

A 7-1 victory ensured a double, winning the Division Three Dominoes title with runners-up Bridge C six points behind.

Grand Junction and Lion Swan had a hard fought 4-4 draw in Division Five Darts and the battle between the two at dominoes resulted in a 5-3 victory to Junction, not enough to lift them off the bottom spot.

The Winter season starts on September 4 with the First Round of the Team Knockout

The draw is as follows: British Lion A v Liberal C; Raven A v Nags A; Liberal A v Last Orders; Kings B v Foresters; White Lion(Copp) B v Kings A; Amalgamated B v Vine B; Sydney Arms B v Cross Keys; Commercial v Hawk; Woodside v British Lion B; Junction v Sydney Arms A; Capt Webb v George; Broughton v Raven B; Crown v Oddfellows; Nags B v Aslef Leisure; Flying Lady B v Delamere; Vine C v Flying Lady A; Queens Pk GC v Raob A; Dishers v Vine A; Copp Leighton v LMR B; White Lion(Ford Lane) v Cosey; Pioneers v Cheshire Cheese; Nantwich Rd v Polish; Hop Pole v Amalgamated A; Crosville v Leisure; Brunel v Bridge C; Cumberland v Bridge A; Horseshoe v North Ward; LMR A v Prince of Wales.

The following teams have byes to round two White Lion(Copp) A, Rockwood, Raob B, Belle Vue.

Cross Keys A have resigned from Division Two and North Ward B from Division Four.

Due to the recent demise of the Licences Houses League the following six teams requested League membership and were accepted: Captain Webb, Foresters Arms, Prince of Wales, White Lion (Coppenhall) A and B and White Lion (Ford Lane).

A second team from the LMR Sports Club also joined, making seven newcomers, all who enter at Division Five level.

To accommodate these teams five promotions from Division Five to Division Four are necessary.

By adjusting relegations from Divisions Two, Three and Four, no further promotions except the scheduled top two in Divisions One to Four are necessary.

The League now has a full capacity of sixty teams in six Divisions of ten teams.

The only rule change involved a tightening up of Rule 2 regarding match re-arrangements which have been causing considerable problems to the League in recent seasons.
