FIREFIGHTERS are warning people to take care when cooking after being called out twice within half an hour for incidents involving burnt toast.
The first incident took place at 7.30pm on Monday, when crews were called to a residential home on Whitchurch Way after a fire alarm had been set off in the building.
After inspection firefighters discovered the cause of the alarm was burnt toast.
Then at 8pm on the same day, crews were called by neighbours of a flat in Palacefields who heard a smoke alarm going off.
They had managed to wake a man in the flat who had fallen asleep while grilling bread, which had created an amount of smoke that set off the smoke alarm.
Crews are now urging people to take care when cooking and not to leave any food unattended and make sure that rooms are well ventilated and to not use toasters under smoke alarms.
