A MOTORCYCLIST from Runcorn was killed on Monday when his silver Kawasaki Ninja collided with a red Renault people-carrier near Mickle Trafford, Chester.
The 31-year-old man suffered fatal injuries in the smash, which happened at 2.45pm on the A56 Warrington Road near Morley Bridge at the junction with Barrow Lane.
Traffic police investigating the cause of the smash say a family from Wrexham travelling in the Renault Scenic were left 'extremely shaken' but physically unharmed.
Both they and the biker are believed to have been travelling in the same direction, towards Helsby from Chester, when the accident occurred.
Family liason officer PC Rupert Venables of Chester Police said the man's family were too upset to comment.
Cheshire coroner's office refused to confirm if an inquest had yet been opened into the 31-year-old's death.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or noticed anything about either vehicle's driving prior to the crash, to contact them on 01244-613 168.
