Runcorn Apec Taxis Darts League

THE first and second rounds of both the Town Championship and Executive Competitions were staged this week.

Only Section Six team Tranny Rovers were able to beat higher graded opponents in the Town Championship first round.

They defeated Section Five's Prospect Has Beens 5-4.

Halfway A's Wally Done hit a maximum in his team's 7-2 win against Tranny Lads, while Wanderers' Peter Illidge did likewise but his team lost out 6-3 to Navvy.

Steve Finlay finished in 19 darts while helping Roundhouse to a 7-2 win against Union Tavern.

In the Executive Competition, Section Four team Fiddlers III took pride of place when they accounted for Clarry B from Section One 6-3.

Jimmy's Jugglers and Navvy Lads were both 3-1 down but ran out 5-4 winners against Likely Lads and Raven respectively.

Kev's Killers were 4-2 down against Tricorn but hit back through Ian Deakin and Stuart Bousfield to help them win 5-4.

Outcasts' 5-4 win against Jolly Brewer included a 103 finish from Chris Jones.

The tie of the second round in the Town Championship was between Navvy and Albion.

Navvy's Paul Carr had an 18-dart game while teammate Peter Murphy hit a maximum.

Albion's 5-4 win included a 19-dart game from Phil Littler.

Section One champions Halfway A proved too strong for RAOB Buffs, running out 8-1 winners, and they will be joined at the semi final stages of the competition by Halfway Gents, who beat Halton Marauders 6-3.

Roundhouse made up the quartet when they beat Tranny Rovers 5-4.

In the Executive Competition, Lion Doo Waps' Fran Reilly and Paul Burke hit maximums in their team's 6-3 win against Kev's Killers.

Section Three's Outcasts and Dreadnaughts progressed to the semi-final stages and they will be joined by Draymen from Section Five.

The semi finals of both competitions will take place on Thursday, while on September 7 and 8 the league's two Summer League finals nights will be staged at the War Memorial Club, both commencing at 8pm.

Next Thursday will also see the final of the Apec Taxis KO Cup between Red Admiral and Albion and the final of the Executive Cup between the winners of this Thursday's semi finals.

Next Friday night will commence with the semi finals of the Doubles Competition followed by the same stage of the Individual Competition and then the final of the Town Championship.

Play will be concluded with the finals of both the Doubles and Individual Competitions.
