A NANTWICH retire
ment home has won a gold award for the second year running in this year's Nantwich in Bloom competition.
The Richmond retirement village impressed judges including Margaret Thrower, the daughter of the popular television gardener the late Percy Thrower, to take the award in the community care section.
Head gardener Jonathan Basford said: "We are absolutely thrilled to have won the award again this year.
"We pride ourselves on ensuring our residents can take as much enjoyment as possible from their surroundings and we feel it is important everyone has beautiful well-tended gardens to admire."
Confirming its green finger credentials Nantwich in Bloom secretary Constance Jones added: "We were all very impressed with the layout and abundance of colour and wonderful fragrant smells which flood your senses as soon as you enter the village grounds.
"We congratulate Richmond Village on all its hard work."
The village gardens have also been entered in the North West in Bloom competition with results being announced in early September.
Founder and managing director of Richmond Villages, Keith Cockell says: "When we design a Richmond Village the emphasis is on the lifestyle we can offer our residents.
"The gardens are crucial when it comes to creating the right ambience and for encouraging outdoor socialising."
