AN Age Concern campaign for better funding of elderly care is being backed by South Cheshire MP Stephen O'Brien.

The Eddisbury MP, who is shadow minister for Health, is supporting the charity's drive to ensure that public money is being properly targeted at helping older people.

Mr O'Brien signed a statement in Parliament last month to say that the Government's Comprehensive Spending Review should lead to 'care and security in retirement'.

He said: "Older people too often get a raw deal. I want to make sure the way public money is spent helps make life better for older people, giving them the dignity and security they deserve."
