STUDENTS across South Cheshire were celebrating last week after breaking yet more records in their GCSEs.
It was a familiar story last Thursday when hundreds of 16-year-olds opened their dreaded results envelopes to record-breaking exam results.
Across the county, a record 62 per cent of students scored five or more A* to C grades, and there were a number of fantastic achievers in South Cheshire.
AT Ruskin Sports College, Hulya Ozdilek achieved grade C and above in all her exams despite not speaking a word of English two years ago, while highest performers were Matthew Dean with 7A*s and 2As and Candice Greatbanks and Andrea Nicholls, who both achieved straight As and A*s.
Headteacher Phil Mottershead said: "Thanks must go to our teaching staff for all the skill, dedication and sheer hard work they have put into supporting our students to achieve so well."
Almost three-quarters of students at St Thomas More Catholic High School achieved five or more A* to C grades, with 29 per cent of those graded A or A*.
As a specialist Maths school, 29 year 10 pupils were entered for GCSE Statistic a year early and 90 per cent achieved A or A*.
Headteacher Peter Walters said: "This was a year group where so many pupils set themselves high standards and enjoyed working to achieve them."
