A GROUP of soldiers will be taking on tough terrain without the benefit of tanks - but on foot and by bike to raise money for charity.
A team of soldiers from the Territorial Army 80 Signal Squadron in Runcorn will be using their fitness and endurance skills in the Trans Lake Team Challenge.
The squad of six will have to work together to complete the 37-mile journey through the tough landscape of the Lake District by foot and on mountain bikes.
Starting out at Keswick, the group will have to complete the nine-stage course before reaching the finishing post at Holker Hall all in only one day.
The event has been organised to raise money for the British Heart Foundation and it is hoped that £30,000 will be raised from the day.
Captain Chris Hopkins said: "The British Heart Foundation is a good cause that we have supported in the past.
"This event is ideal for us as we enjoy a challenge and the endurance aspect is good training for soldiers."
