HASLINGTON suffered a dramatic collapse in defeat at struggling Newcastle.

In-form Sohail Tanvir starred again when leading from the front, hitting 77 off 88 balls.

The visitors survived two early ducks with Chris Henderson (64) joining Tanvir to compile a brilliant 130-run stand.

But it all went pair-shaped when as 160-3 turned into 179 all out with Dave Moreton (24) unable to find a partner.

Simon Wood (49) and Andy Elliott (61) put on 75 for the first wicket and although Tanvir (5-79) inspired some wobbles, Newcastle made it home by five wickets.

Mid-table in NSSC Division Two, they travel to Whitmore on Saturday.
