GREEN fingered volunteers from Willaston have been pulling out the stops to brighten up the village despite the menace of vandals and the extreme temperatures of the summer heatwave.
But now the Willaston in Bloom committee is calling on villagers to help out by giving their time to do a spot of watering to provide a lifeline to flowers and plants.
Committee member Mike Heywood said: "This year has been exceptionally dry, which means watering the baskets, tubs, troughs and beds every day or all is lost.
"And to water all the village takes about two and half to three hours.
"This year Willaston has been divided into areas where members of the committee live, so that the planting and weeding has been shared out between us.
"This season plants have sadly been stolen and beds damaged.
"Any help we can have from the residents who live baskets, tubs and beds would be much appreciated."
Anyone who c an help can contact Mike on 01270 569744.
