THE 2006 summer league fixtures have concluded and resulted in the Section Six championship being decided on the last game of the season.
Quayside's Barry Kelly proved to be his team's hero on the night when he played the anchor role in steering his team to a 5-4 win against The Tup and, in so doing, enabling his team to take the title by the narrowest of margins.
The match produced a maximum from George Aspinall.
Albion did their rivals Navvy no favours when they denied them the chance of taking the runner-up spot in Section One.
Albion's 7-2 win included 18-dart games from both Paul Melia and Phil Littler, with both players hitting maximums, and both of those players paired up to win their doubles games - also in 18 darts - while for Navvy, Peter Murphy and Neil Ward won their doubles game in 16 darts.
Tranny Lads were able to take the runner-up spot when a 19-dart game from Clive Daniels helped his team to a 6-3 win against Lion Doo Waps.
On Friday night, the third round of the Doubles competition took place, with the remaining 16 pairs competing for the final four places.
Those eventually winning through were Peter Murphy and Neil Ward, Sean Bell and Graham Littlemore, Paul Carr and Glynn Thornhill (all Navvy), and Neil Connor and Steve Roberts (Halfway A).
Saturday is the closing date for the registration for the 2006/07 winter league.
League officials will be on hand to receive registrations at the Navigation Inn between 7.30pm and 10pm.
On Sunday, the draws for both the first and second rounds of the play-offs will take place at the Navigation Inn at 12.30pm.
