A NEW anti-bullying mascot for hearing and deaf children has been launched. Boo the Elephant has been created by the Open College of Sign Language to help youngsters say no to bullies. Using National Signed English to communicate with children, Boo is the first to teach both hearing and deaf children at the same time.
Rachael Webster, the charity's operations director, said: "Boo will change the way children in schools are being taught. While British Sign Language has allowed for a basic communication system to date, provision for our deaf community to enter into both further and higher education is essential."
