Footballers reclaim pitch

A GROUP of young footballers are celebrating after pressure from the World helped them to reclaim their football pitch.

Dundalk Boys Football Club were about to be turfed off their pitch at King George V Playing Fields.

They were facing a move three miles away to the playing fields at Wilmere Lane.

The proposed move would have seen many of the footballers unable to get to the new pitch because of a lack of transport.

The pitch problem started due to the exceptionally dry and hot weather in July that has made many of the pitches unplayable.

King George V Playing Fields was also undergoing a facelift, with new drainage and surface improvements carried out by Halton Borough Council.

Now, however, Dundalk Boys Football Club have been relocated to another pitch on their old playing field so the teams can look forward to kicking off the new season back at home.
