FAST bowler James Warrington
ripped through the Bollington
batsmen on Saturday.
Warrington ended with seven
wickets for 53 runs, his best ever
figures for Alsager 1st X1.
He paved the way for an important
home victory for Alsager in
helping them pull clear of the relegation
zone.
The win leaves Alsager fifth
from bottom with six games left.
They are 20 points above
Bollington, who are five points
clear of the drop zone.
Bollington opened with 148 for
nine off 50 overs thanks to Warrington's
memorable display, Barrass
top scoring with 47.
Alsager cruised to victory in
reply with 151 for three, Ashwin
Punja leading the way with an
unbeaten 76.
Grant Goodwin scored 34, Gary
Pickford hit 18 and Paul Pickford
was 15 not out.
"James Warrington bowled very
tight and very straight, and forced
the batsmen into unnecessary
shots," said Alsager captain Steve
Armitage.
Cheadle Hulme are four points
behind Bollington after beating
second from bottom Heaton
Mersey. Alsager travel tomorrow
to bottom side Winnington Park.
