ANGRY villagers were out in force to protest against the possible plans to shut their local surgery.
The controversial plans will see Hale surgery closed down with patients at the clinic having to travel to Halebank Methodist Church to see a GP.
The knock-on effect of the change would mean that patients who already use the Halebank Methodist Church surgery would have to travel to the Widnes Resource Centre in the town centre.
Residents of Hale believe that if the surgery were to close it would cause problems for many of the village's elderly residents who would have to find means of travel to neighbouring Halebank. It could also mean that the chemist in Hale may lose business if the surgery was to move away from the village.
The protestors made their voices heard at a meeting of the Primary Care Trust board, which took place at Halton Stadium last month.
