THE quarter-finals of the Carlsberg UK Crewe Open League Summer Team Knockout produced no real surprises as most games went true to form.

Favourites Pioneers Club were easy winners over Bridge A taking the darts 5-2 and winning three of the four dominoes games played to seal an 8-3 aggregate success.

The only players to perform for the Bridge were Gary Hawkins and Steve Faddes with Gary winning a darts game and Steve at dominoes before both combined together to win the darts pairs.

Division One team Rockwood, the only non-Premiership side left in the competition, won five darts games and four dominoes games in a 9-0 thrashing of second division Nags Head B. Aslef Leisure got off to a good start against Kings Arms A.

Cliff Davison winning the first darts game and Les Basford and Brian McGill winning the first two dominoes games.

But this was to no avail as the Kings recovered to take the darts 5-2 and sharing the dominoes singles games 3-3 to give them an 8-5 aggregate passage into the semi-finals.

It became a closely fought contest at the Hawk where visitors Vine A raced into a 5-0 lead with darts victories by Howard Bateman, Steve Moss, Tony Hanks and dominoes wins from George Ganner and Mick Hassell.

Rob Galloway led the Hawk's fight back with a 19 darter as they won three darts and the next four dominoes games to go into a 7-6 lead.

The Vine then levelled at 7-7 when Jimmy Ross and Mick Heselden won the first dominoes pairs but captain Mick Shea and John Timmins gave Hawk victory by winning the final dominoes pairs game to complete an 8-7 aggregate success.

The draw for the semi-finals to be played at the Crosville Club on Monday 21st August is as follows :-Kings Arms A v Rockwood, Hawk v Pioneers Club. The final will also be played at the Crosville Club on Monday 28th August.

In Division One Darts Mark Woolrich was on the mark for Amalgamated A with a 180 maximum but were still beaten 6-2 by visitors Woodside.

The dominoes finished all square at 4-4 with the Mals surrendering a 4-0 lead which was enough to lift Mals into fourth place but eight points behind the leaders.

Division Four Darts pace-setters Cheshire Cheese increased their lead to eleven points with an 8-0 white-wash of hosts North Ward B.

In the dominoes Ward fought back from a 3-0 deficit to earn a hard fought draw but the Cheese's four points sees them move to third place one point behind the leaders Horseshoe.

In Division Five Polish Club's 6-2 darts victory at the Crosville Club increases their lead at the top to eleven points and with a 5-3 win at dominoes they leap-frog Cosey Club to lead the dominoes league by two points although Cosey now have a game in hand.
