WESTON suffered a narrow defeat in a thriller at high-flying Caverswall.
Influential pro Saad Wasim hit 62 but a total of 180 looked too small to bother the hosts.
Opener Stuart Fisher (33) and Martin Young (32) shared a 60-run partnership.
However when both fell in quick succession, it was left to Wasim to hold the innings together.
Saeed Khan (12) and Simon Barratt (18) were the only others to trouble the scoreboard with all focus on supporting the main man.
And Wasim was there until the end, his gallant knock giving the bowlers a total to work with.
Ian Sandland (5-49) and Asad Shah (4-73) almost produced an amazing victory with Caverswall in deep trouble at 77-6.
Stefan Barker kept their hopes alive with 44 off 56 balls but when he fell, the hosts were staring at defeat at 107-8.
Unfortunately the tail wagged and a last-wicket partnership between Jake Edge (41no) and Chris Baronowski (22no) stole victory.
Sliding towards danger in NSSC Division Two, a trip to new leaders Bignall End is next on Saturday.
