CREWE FC warmed up for their MCL Division Two assault with a 6-0 drubbing of Didsbury.
Ian O'Reilly's boys have been netting for fun over the past couple of weeks and dished out another hiding in Manchester, last Saturday.
Danny Massey's well-taken opener was all that separated the sides at the break before the visitors began to run riot.
New recruit Joey Alcott doubled their advantage before Danny Athorn, Shaun Giraine (2) and a Czech trialist completed the rout.
"That's 10 goals in two games and I'm still looking for a striker," said O'Reilly.
"It's difficult to say whether we were that good or they were that bad but in the end you can only beat what's in front of you and we did it in style."
Hopes to arrange one more friendly before the big kick-off at Club AZ on Saturday have been dashed.
O'Reilly has his fingers crossed for a solid start to a busy schedule that includes the derby at Whitchurch on Wednesday.
"Pre-season has gone ok, we've just run out of time a little," continued O'Reilly.
"I would have liked another couple of games to see how players did in different positions.
"We tried to arrange something this week but we were let down at the last minute.
"Some of the lads think we've got a stronger squad than last year, I'm not so sure yet.
"Me, Gary Wood and Tony Fraser will get our heads together and sort out the team for Saturday.
"They'll be some disappointed faces but it's a long old season and we'll need everyone if we want to do well.
"We've got a busy couple of weeks and a lot of games.
"Everyone says that they want to get off to a good start but it is important."
