NANTWICH Town player boss Steve Davis wants his players fired up for this Saturday's big kick-off against Glossop North End.
The Dabbers will want to make the most of a home start as they look to mount a promotion bid in NWC Division One.
Three points are wanted at Jackson Avenue.
"We've got to get the energy levels up," explained Davis.
"That's what we'll be working on this week, we need to start upping the tempo.
"We all know what we want this season and it's imperative we make a good start."
Nantwich warmed up for their season opener with a 1-1 draw at Division Two outfit Winsford United.
Both Stuart Scheuber and skipper Phil Parkinson forced fine saves out of Mottershead as the Dabbers dominated without breaking deadlock.
The breakthrough finally came thanks to Andy Bott who punished a misunderstanding in the Winsford defence by tapping home from eight yards.
Injuries were beginning to pile up within the visitors' ranks, allowing United the incentive and a late equaliser.
Sub keeper Danny Reade looked to have dealt with Paul Booth's 25 yard drive but the ball spooned up off his palm and into the back of the net.
"It was a good workout," continued Davis.
"We had a lot of possession but perhaps we could have done better in the final third.
"Andy Bott is off the mark and he had a big smile on his face after the game.
"It takes the pressure off when you get your first goal for a new club and hopefully it's the start of many."
Danny Griggs should be back from injury to figure against Glossop while both Matt Blake and Jamie Marrow remain some way off a return to first-team action.
Trialists Adam Soane and winger Ish Read have been signed up.
"Adam was captain at Stone, he's a versatile lad who can play across the back four and in midfield," said Davis.
"Ish did well against Winsford, he's young and looks good going forward."
Tuesday's trip to Trafford has been moved to August 22 and replaced with a Cheshire Senior Cup clash at home to Congleton.
Nantwich face their toughest challenge with a trip to Gigg Lane to face FC United on Saturday week.
With over 3,000 expected, the Dabbers want big support.
Travel can be booked through Malbank Coaches on 01270 626648 with the fare £8.
