LITTLE Eric Donlan can't walk or talk but she can already swim - underwater!

She took part in a splashathon with her mum, Leanne, collecting £312 for Tommy's charity, which provides research and practical advice for pregnant mums.

They raised the second highest amount out of 400 babies all over the region, who donated a remarkable £11,500!

"Erin was just four months old when we started swimming," said Leanne, of Widnes.

"It's been absolutely brilliant for her and we both love it.

"It's lovely spending time in the water with all the babies, although seeing them swimming underwater has to be the best bit.

"Erin is now amazingly confident. Her favourite trick is throwing herself off the side into the water!"

Erin's granddad, who works for a plastering company asked his work colleagues for sponsorship.

To raise money, each baby had to carry out a challenge in the water they'd never done before.

Swimming through a hoop, turning round and surfacing again and dropping in off the side were just some of their daring feats.

The event was organised by Water Babies, who run lessons at Chesnut Lodge School, Widnes.
