CREWE FC will be looking to go one better with the big kick-off only five weeks away.
After just missing out on promotion last season, a top two finish is sure to be the target for 2006/07.
Ian O'Reilly's boys were back in training this week as they gear up for a tough Mid Cheshire League Division Two campaign.
Expanded to 17 teams now, Congleton Town and Stalybridge Celtic will run reserves sides while Tarporley Victoria also take a slot.
Relegated Eagle Sports will have their sights set on a quick return with Curzon Ashton, Warrington and Golborne are also potential contenders to go up.
Assistant boss Gary Wood says the local lads are up for it.
"We're looking forward to playing again and we should have a few new faces in," he said.
"Jon Dawson has gone to Biddulph Victoria but he leaves with our best wishes.
"It was a tough decision for him but he wants to give it one more go and we understand that.
"If it doesn't work out, he's always welcome back here."
Wood says they're looking for a good start.
"We've got five weeks to get ready," he added.
"We want to get off to a good start in August."
The club have confirmed one friendly with some more to follow.
Crewe FC will travel to Staffs side Abbey Hulton United on Saturday, July 29.
Meanwhile the Local Network Fund have awarded the club a grant which will enable its soccer school to continue developing players and expand coaching work.

Volunteers are also sought for a variety of roles including administrator and kit manager.
