SWAN won Earlestown Summer Darts League's battle of the top two.

They defeated Newton Social A 5- 3 thanks to Steve Barrow securing a last-leg win.

Social's Gav Robinson was ahead after throwing 100, 85, 81 and 95 but Barrow came to the rescue with a 180, 100 and double 10.

Earlier on, Derek Jones put Social ahead with a win against Keith Bowes but Dave Clarke, who was on a finish, did not get another throw because Doug Smith took out 76 to level the scores.

Steve A Jones threw a good 22 darts against Roy Mather that gave Swan a 3-2 lead but Neil Mather levelled in 20.

Dave Houghton edged Swan ahead with a 101 finish in 21 darts against George Jones.

Barry Edmondson gave Swan's Mick Cane one dart at 16 and drew, leaving Barrow to produce the goods in the final act.

Viaduct have moved up to challenge the top two in Division One after an 8-1 demolition of St Davids.

Division Two leaders Griffin crashed 5-4 against Chapel House, who enjoyed their first win of the campaign.

House led 3-0 through S Robinson, Danny White and Mike Henry but Alan Tabern, 19, Mike Tickle, 20, and Neil Preece, 20, replied to make it 3-3. Lee Crank and J Woods, 23, sealed the win.

Newton Social B led 2-0 at Railway thanks to Mike Smith, 24, and Ian McLorie, 27, but lost 6-2. S Baines and J Conroy replied for Railway, who were steered home by M Baines, Paul Jones and Ian Makinson, 27.

Old Crow closed the gap on Division Three leaders Wellington with a 5-4 win against Houghton. Crow's winners were P Caldwell, F Winnard, S Astley, A Swift and Craig Cockroft, who sealed the success in 25 darts.

In the dominoes section, Newton Social A hammered Swan 5-0 courtesy of wins by George Jones and Ged Hulme, George Brown Jnr and Derek Jones, Mike Lloyd and Andy Harbridge, and Bob Corrigan and Roy Mather.

Viaduct built up a 2-0 lead at St Davids thanks to Dave Smith and Carl Jones as well as Gary Mather and Les Wilkie.

Jeff Pierce and Gordon Harrison replied to no avail as John Cooper and Jack Ryan sealed the win.

Newton Social B went 12 points clear in Division Two with their fourth 4-1 win.

The latest Newton success against Railway was achieved with wins by Ste Harrison and Dave Villiers, Ernie Welding and Ste Critchley, and Stu Ausin and Ian McLorie.

Griffin moved into third with a 3-1 win at Chapel House with wins coming from Alan Tabern Jnr and Ste Woods, Tony Parkins and Mike Tickle, as well as Terry O'Neill and Lee Wood.

Old Crow lead Division Three by a point after beating leaders Houghton Arms 5-0. Good wins were recorded by Les Corless and S Astley, Reg Boardman and Alan Lewis, along with P Wood and G Davies.

Engine twice went ahead against Pear Tree but the Tree team proved to be stubborn and levelled on each occasion.

Gary Benyon and Keith Mellors beat K Slater and C Hatton to seal Engine's 3-2 win.
