GRANGE Cricket Club's first XI remain unbeaten going into Saturday's home 'derby' with Appleton.

A fine display of determination from D Robertson, who was not out with 10, earned under-strength Grange a small share of the spoils from their Cheshire Building Society Cricket Alliance Division Two clash with fellow promotion seekers Frodsham at the weekend.

Grange finished on 151 for 8 after chasing 269 for 6 declared.

Ben Large ran the show for the visitors, stroking an elegant 145 not out with the bat and then making Grange's progress difficult with 5 for 53 in attack but Robertson remained impenetrable.

The pick of Grange's bowlers were D Seed, 3 for 57, and D Johnson, 2 for 70, while N Williams, 28, M Antwoon, 23, and Seed, 22, contributed with the bat.

Saturday's clash with Appleton at Grange Avenue will start at 2pm.

Grange's seconds, who meet Appleton away on Saturday at 2pm, played two matches at the weekend.

They reached the quarter finals of the Cheshire Alliance Cup after defeating Northwich at home on Sunday.

Grange posted an imposing 216 for 8 in their 40 overs, with captain Gary Moors smashing a commanding 77, while Shaun Peters played with a great deal of patience to make 48.

The visitors were then dismissed for 125 in their reply as all six Grange bowlers got among the wickets.

Grange also secured a league draw with Frodsham after attempting to cut down their opponents' total of 218 for 7.

Grange posted 143 for 5 with skipper Alan Ayling making a patient half century, supported by the Peters brothers.

Younger brother Shaun, 31 runs, showed more excellent potential with the bat, while Adam completed a notable all round performance with 3 for 52 and 20 runs.
