WARRINGTON'S Imagine8 netball team have reached the final of a national competition.
Imagine8 defeated Surrey side Cobham 36-26 in the semi finals of the England Netball Challenge Cup Plate and will play Kent team Purley in the final in Bath on July 15.
Imagine8 went into the final quarter against Cobham at Egham Leisure Centre five goals ahead and dug deep, finding their form and scoring 10 goals to five after playing some exceptional netball, working as a team and completely over powering Cobham.
They won the first quarter 6-9 and then consolidated their lead in the second quarter, winning 10-6 for a seven-goal lead at the interval.
Half-time changes unsettled Imagine8 slightly and Cobham came back into the game with a 9-7 success in the third quarter.
Goal attack Andrea Holker was awarded the player of the match honour, just ahead of goal defence Jane Thomson.
Team: Jane Thomson, Jenny McCall, Andrea Holker, Lisa Mitchell, Zoe Boyes, Lisa McHendry, Gayle Phillips, Vicci Lewis, Carrie Millerchip, Sue Fletcher, Joy Randall.
* Imagine8 Netball Club, who are guided by ex-county coach Sue Day, are based at Penketh High School, where they train on Mondays between 7pm and 9pm, and are seeking additional players of all ages and standards.
They currently have three teams who play at varying standards in the Warrington Netball League and in a regional league.
