A MOTORCYCLIST and his passenger have been seriously injured after a collision with a car.
The smash happened at traffic lights at the junction of Palacefields Avenue and the Expressway slip-road during halftime of England's World Cup clash with Portugal.
The 26-year-old biker suffered multiple broken bones and is in intensive care at Warrington Hospital after being found unconscious by paramedics.
His 20-year-old pillion passenger also needed hospital treatment although police say his injuries are less serious.
The other vehicle, a blue Peugeot 206, was being driven by a 26-year-old woman who was treated at the scene.
Her passenger, a 15-year-old girl, was checked out in hospital as a precaution.
