PENKETH High School pupils saw their own works performed by professional musicians in a special show at the Parr Hall.
GCSE pupils worked with four members of the Northern Chamber Orchestra and five were selected to compose their own works for inclusion in a concert of Mozart pieces.
The pupils were Samantha Kelsall from year 12, and Danielle Segar, Thomas McClellan, Amy Nichols and Helen Sharpe from year 10.
Music teacher Jonathon Dickson said: "It was an intensely exciting occasion. It was one of the most exiting things to happen to us here - for the pupils to have their work interpreted by professional musicians is breathtaking.
"And their works were exciting and dynamic."
The concert was recorded and copies are available from the school.
