Brian Bevan Island could be removed as the result of an ambitious plan to regenerate a forgotten part of Warrington town centre.

Developers Maro will hold a public consultation from today, Thursday, that could see 750 homes built on the Centre Park site as well as create business premises and a new depot for Warrington's buses.

The building would take place on the site of the former Spectra packaging works, as well as the current golf driving range.

A feature of the proposal is the suggestion of replacing the Brian Bevan roundabout - one of the busiest in the borough - with a new signal-controlled junction. Developers say this will reduce congestion.

Christopher Ives, of Maro Developments, said: "While the current business park has thrived, the remainder of Centre Park is increasingly seen as being in need of regeneration.

"We're proposing to breathe new life into the site by delivering a range of appropriate new uses, including residential, retail and significant new space for commercial uses, that will not only provide space to accommodate additional new jobs, but could also provide a new home for Warrington's bus depot."

The three-day exhibition will be open for the next three days from 10am until 5pm outside BHS in the Golden Square.
