WARRINGTON Town will start the new UniBond League First Division campaign with four games in 10 days.

The Yellows, bidding for success after a season-long battle against relegation last term, will open 2006/07 on August 19 at the Horsfall Stadium against relegated Bradford Park Avenue.

Town's first home game will follow on August 22 against Kidsgrove Athletic, who have signed centre back Michael Owen and striker Dave Shaw from last season's Town squad.

Belper Town will be the visitors to Cantilever Park on August 26, while the fourth game in 10 days will be on August bank holiday Monday at Gresley Rovers.

Town's joint manager Nick Armitage said: "Four games in 10 days sounds a tough start but think back to the end of last season when we played what felt like 10 games in four days, so this will be something of a rest for us!

"Bradford Park Avenue are something of an unknown quantity to us at this stage with them having been relegated from the Premier Division.

"They'll be looking at us and seeing that we've struggled at the bottom end of the table for the last few years and they'll be thinking that they're happier with this first game than what we are. But hopefully we'll catch them cold."

Town returned to training last week and will be fielding two teams against each other at Victoria Park on Saturday to give Armitage and fellow manager Glenn Walker the chance to assess their options for the season ahead.

The following weekend Town will play their first pre-season friendly at Heswall.

Town, who will be competing in the FA Trophy again next term, have been drawn away to Colwyn Bay in the first round of the League Challenge Cup on October 31.

Friendlies: July 15, Heswall away; July 22, Congleton away; July 27, Ashton Town away; July 29, Mossley away; August 2, FC United home; August 5, Everton home; August 8, Prescot Cables home; August 12, Marine home.
