THE Brindley Theatre will be staging an inspiring production that looks at living with someone with autism.

The Mick Martin play Worlds Apart follows Sam Harris, a 14-year-old girl who has to deal not only with the usual teenage problems of friends and boys but also her younger brother Adam's autism.

The play takes a look into her life as a teenage girl dealing with life, love, communication and difference in the world around her.

At home there's Mum, her stepdad Pete and her eight-year-old autistic half-brother Adam.

At school there's her best mate Kelly to whom she tells everything. Enter Sam's world and share her joys, her confusions and her frustrations as she gives her thoughts and feelings about boys, parents and Adam.

Mick Martin says of the play: "Autism is a rare condition, but it is one that is on the increase, the experts don't really know why that is, though it's possible that better diagnosis has a part to play.

"Rather than write about an autistic boy directly, I thought it might be interesting to look at the world of his sister, get to know her life and learn more about her brother and what his presence in a family means to all involved."

Worlds Apart is on at the Runcorn theatre on Tuesday, July 11, at 7.30pm.

Tickets for the performance cost £8 and £6 for concessions.
