AN ICE cream seller was fined £50 and forced to pay almost £150 in court costs after he was found guilty of trading without a licence.
Anthony Manfredi was spotted selling ice cream from a vehicle outside Lyme Street Community School.
When officers from St Helens Council's environmental department approached his van, they discovered that he did not possess a consent licence for trading in the borough.
Manfredi, of Stanley Street, Newton, appeared at St Helens Magistrates' Court last Wednesday charged with street trading without consent.
Environmental health officers warned they will continue to monitor traders within the borough and take any appropriate action necessary to ensure compliance with the law.
