SPEEDING in Middlewich will be targeted fully if enough volunteers come forward to help get a new initiative on the road.
Middlewich CAT team is determined to start a community speedwatch, which will give residents a chance to go out on the streets with speed guns and prevent motorists from racing through the town.
Volunteers will receive full training and high visibility jackets before taking the guns out.
The details of anyone caught driving above the speed limit will be forwarded to Congleton community safety partnership which will send warning letters to the offending motorist.
PCSO Roger Need, from Middlewich CAT team, said: "We want to tackle speeding in Middlewich.
"Volunteers can go out in groups of twos and threes when and where they can."
Anyone over the age of 18 who can spare time to help would be welcomed by the CAT team, which hopes to establish two groups to focus on roads in the Kinderton and Cledford areas, including Croxton Lane, Nantwich Road, Chester Road, St Michael's Way, Booth Lane, Sutton Lane and Warmingham Lane.
Anyone who wants to join the scheme can contact the CAT team by calling them on 0845 458 6382 or by emailing congleton
