A TEENAGER has appeared in court after he admitted assaulting a fellow pupil of a school in Winsford.
The 15-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, assaulted the boy outside the school on May 9 because he believed he had been attacked by his victim earlier in the day.
Carolyn Viviani, prosecuting, said: "At about 3pm the boy was walking past a group of youths outside the school gates when he was attacked by a male he didn't know.
"He was hit to the face and kicked in the ribs and head."
The victim suffered a cut to his eye, bruising to his ribs, chipped tooth and cut mouth during the attack.
Ms Viviani said: "He fully admitted the assault and had he not done so there would have been no evidence against him.
"He said he did it because his victim had assaulted him earlier in the day but he didn't report it to police because he wasn't a grass."
Derek Macdonald, defending, asked magistrates to give his client credit for admitting the assault.
He said: "A lot of people would have hid behind no comment but he was honest.
"It was a nasty incident at school that should not have happened and his mother is livid with him."
Chairman of the bench John Meredith gave the boy a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered him to pay £100 compensation.
