NEIGHBOURS have reacted with shock and disbelief after a car crashed into a garden in Davenham - at exactly the same spot where a Winsford PC died last month.

PC Tony Heaton died in June when his motorcycle left the road and hit a tree on the Davenham Bypass.

The accident in June happened near to a sweeping bend close to the Hartford Road junction

Yesterday, Tuesday, a red Honda Civic was involved in an accident.

The car hit the same tree outside Pam and Tony Kania's house and landed in their garden, causing extensive damage. The driver suffered minor injuries.

One neighbour said he heard a crash, felt his house shake and the screech of lorry brakes.

He said he knew exactly then what had happened.

Mrs Kania, who was called home from work, said she had feared the worst.

She said: "I just felt sick when I got the phone call.

"My first thought was that it had gone through the front of my house."

Mrs Kania, who has lived in Hartford Road for 13 years said: "It has become absolutely ridiculous. Things like this happened every six months but it seems like it's every month now.

"My biggest concern is for the pedestrians and cyclists who use this road."

Visibly shocked, Mrs Kania said: "An hour later and my son could have been walking on that drive."

The increase in accidents has made the family consider selling their home.

Sidney Burrows, a neighbour who has lived in Hartford Road for 31 years, added: "We need crash barriers outside these houses.

"Kids play in the road, people park their cars here.

"The motorist is protected yet there is nothing to protect us."
