A TEACHER at the Russett School in Weaverham has been suspended after allegations of improper conduct were made against her.
The woman was escorted out of the special school by a Cheshire County Council child protection unit and Cheshire Police on Tuesday, June 29.
An investigation is now under way into the claims of improper conduct.
A Cheshire County Council spokesman said: "We can confirm that a member of staff at The Russett School, Weaverham, has been suspended.
"Joint investigations by Cheshire Police and Cheshire County Council's Child Safeguarding Unit are proceeding into allegations of inappropriate conduct.
"We would emphasise that suspension, in itself, is not a disciplinary measure."
A woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "Everybody in the school knows about it.
"Pupils and staff are in shock.
"Everybody is just so upset about it."
The Russett School, in Middlehurst Avenue, is a school for children aged two to 19 with severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties.
Part of the main school is taken up with children who attend the Multi-Sensory Impairment (MSI) Unit.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: "Police are investigating an incident at the school which was reported to them.
"We are now working to establish whether any criminal offences have been committed."
